Why CPF exists

Money Made Simple.

CPF exists to give you the practical personal-finance education most of us never got at home or in school.

The origin

Why we started CPF

Our families handled money differently, but Aiden and I realized we had something in common: whether our parents knew a lot about money or not, neither of us was taught much about personal finance. School didn’t really fill that gap either.

We ended up figuring out saving, investing, and choosing financial products largely on our own. We started CPF so you don’t have to do the same. We wanted Cal Poly students to have a practical place to learn this stuff, ask questions, and actually do something with it.

What guides us

What we value.

Action

You should leave with something done, not just something heard.

Clarity

You shouldn’t need finance vocabulary before you can understand your own money.

Evidence

We care more about fees, terms, incentives, and tradeoffs than whatever the marketing says.

Students

Your interests come before sponsors, hype, or making the club look impressive.

Student leadership

Meet the people building CPF with you.

We’re students too. Bios and individual profile links will be added as the board submits them.

2026 goal

Help at least 100 students learn something useful about personal finance.

You don’t need to become a finance person. You should just feel more capable making the money decisions that actually affect your life.
